000123 and 123 are different serial strings. Never silently strip the zeros to make an encoding fit.
Serialise within the trade-item identity
SGTIN combines the trade-item identity with a serial number. A production workflow must make sure the same identity is not allocated to two different items. A browser calculator can construct a value; it cannot coordinate all your production systems.
Know the 96-bit limit
SGTIN-96 has room for a numeric serial from 0 to 274877906943, without leading zeros except the single digit 0. If letters or leading zeros are meaningful in your serials, choose an encoding that preserves them rather than changing the serial.

The company-prefix boundary determines the partition of an SGTIN-96 encoding. Use confirmed prefix information and verify the displayed split. Some allocations need special mapping; our first release does not infer those cases.
Follow a complete conversion
For GTIN 09521141890127 with confirmed EPC prefix 9521141, separate indicator 0, prefix 9521141, item digits 89012 and check digit 7. The EPC item component is 089012; the GTIN check digit is omitted from the EPC and recalculated when reconstructing the GTIN. With serial 1001 and filter 1, the tool returns 3036451FD456ED00000003E9. The pure identity URI has no filter field.
Do not mistake a tool boundary for a standard prohibition
TDS includes rules for individually assigned GTINs and other mappings. This encoder’s ordinary-prefix workflow does not establish which allocation rule applies to a number. A selected prefix length is a user-supplied fact, not an ownership lookup. Keep the allocation evidence with production data, and route unsupported allocation types to a separately validated implementation.
Serial identity survives system boundaries
SGTIN uniqueness is the combination of GTIN and serial; the serial need not be globally unique by itself. Preserve the exact serial string in imports, QR links and records. If a serial contains letters or significant leading zeros, SGTIN-198 is one established alternative, but it is not encoded by this tool. Reader and tag capacity must be checked before choosing another scheme.
